About me

I graduated with a 1st class degree and Masters in Mathematics, completed a PGCE and have over 10 years tutoring experience. I’m happy tutoring KS2, KS3, GCSE and A-level students. I provide Maths tutoring in York and travel to pupil’s houses.

Many of my students have gone on to improve by multiple grades or have consolidated their higher grade of which they had previously been uncertain.

My approach

I understand that often, a large part of improving maths skills is giving the learner the confidence that they have the ability to progress. That is why I focus on going back to the level at which the pupil is confident, then building from there to create a strong understanding and self-assurance.

My usual approach is to try to develop ideas as building blocks that fit together and make sense to the pupil. I usually find that they will then retain the new skills that they have learnt more easily.
